Be a Part of our Oral History Project!
We are looking for volunteers to help us in the exciting new Oral History Project. This is your opportunity to experience the rich history of Brantford and Brant County through people’s personal experiences. As a volunteer, you will collect people’s stories through short, audio interviews. We will train you and provide you with the necessary digital recorder.
We are also looking for people to share their stories. Do you know of someone who has an interesting story from Brantford/Brant County’s past? Do you have a story to share? Please be in touch with suggestions or to offer your own story. We will conduct a short audio interview with everyone who’s interested at a time and place that is convenient. We’d love to hear from you.
If you are interested please email us at information@brantmuseums.ca or give us a call at 519-752-2483.
Other Volunteer Opportunities:
The Brant Historical Society is looking for volunteers just like you! We have positions to suit you, your skills and your level of commitment. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in history, students seeking valuable work experience, or individuals looking to make a positive impact on our community and its heritage.
Here are some of the areas that you can help:
Be A Gardening Volunteer
Do you have a green thumb? It's the perfect time of year to help us with our gardens at either Brant Museum & Archives or Myrtleville House Museum!
Be A Curatorial Volunteer
It takes a lot of dedication to maintain our collections. If you like history, want to learn about artifacts from the past, or are thinking of pursuing a career in the museum field, you will enjoy assisting our curatorial staff in taking care of the artifacts and archives in our collections. Have a knack for sewing? We are always in need of garment bags and padded hangers for our textile collection.
Be an Adult Outreach Volunteer
Do you enjoy working with seniors? Do you enjoy doing outreach in our community and sharing stories about local history? Volunteer your time once or twice a month by bringing our adult outreach program to a group in our community. Training is provided.
Be A Fundraising Volunteer
Help support all of the activities of the museum by becoming a fundraising volunteer. We need volunteers who want to reach out to the community through special events, exhibit openings, open houses, and other opportunities! We are always open to new suggestions and would love to have you join our fundraising team.
